Hotel Review | The Smetana | Prague

With each new city I visit, I almost always try to spend the majority of our nights in a boutique, local hotel, instead of a chain. I love experiencing the unique styles and cultural components that you just don’t get from big, conglomerate hotels.

The Smetana Hotel is gorgeous and located right on the Vltava river in Prague. What drew me to this hotel initially is its proximity to all major Prague hot spots, and the overall look and vibe of the grounds.

The Location

In my opinion, you could not find a better hotel location in all of Prague. The Smetana is a four minute walk from the Charles Bridge, five minutes from Old Town Prague and just under 10 minutes to the astronomical clock. Oh, and the Beer Museum of Prague is also right next door (the restaurant, not the actual museum, which is still only a 12 minute walk), so what could be better?

The Grounds

The Grounds of the Smetana are stunning, and very chic. The open-air courtyard is really the perfect place to relax as the outdoor seating is comfortable, yet elegant.

The Room

Like the rest of the grounds, our room was cozy and stylish. The furniture is older, Victorian perhaps? It was also just the right amount of space, as many European hotel rooms (especially boutiques) are quite small.

The Service

We didn’t utilize the full menu of services offered (there’s a wellness spa and gym which offers personal training), but we did eat breakfast most mornings at the restaurant attached to the hotel. There’s another cafe onsite, as well as a cigar lounge if you’re feeling extra fancy. The front desk staff were accommodating and kind everyday. We would certainly stay here again. Thank you, Smetana!
